The Law of Attraction and Raising Your Vibrational Level

If like me you are a fan of the work done by Esther and Jerry Hicks you will know that the main focus of their message is always about feeling good now. When I was first introduced to the law of attraction and the Hicks’s I was not a particularly happy person and I could not get my head around feeling happy. I mean come on, how could I feel happy when I was 50lbs over weight? How could I feel happy when I had $80,000 worth of dept? How could I feel happy when I was working for the boss from hell? How could I feel happy when I was in a relationship that felt like a huge burden on my shoulders?

How, How How?

I was tossing around a lot of how’s at the time and eventually I just let go of trying to understand how to feel good in the face of so many problems. Letting go was definitely the best thing I could have done because within a short space of time I started attracting the information that I needed to learn how to be happy moment to moment despite how my outer world looked.

Over then next few years I experimented with many practices and I soon came to realize that I could not just step from despair and desperation straight into happiness, it just was not possible, but I could move gradually upwards from despair. I found that when I was feeling particularly low the best thing for me to do was recognize that I was in a funk and then actively go about distracting myself from the bad feelings. I did this by taking part in certain activities that slowly but surely made me feel better, and I also stopped doing certain things that made me feel worse.

I discovered that when I make how I feel my priority I feel much better. I have learnt that being somewhat selfish is in fact a good thing. What’s the point of living if I cannot even be bothered to make myself happy in the world? I could as well go out and throw myself under a cross town bus.

So because you, yes you reading this now, you are my favorite reader in the whole wide world I am going to share with you my tips for raising your vibration and feeling good moment to moment.

Be careful whom you speak to
Do not spend time listening to or engaging in negative conversations, they usually end up in a bad story swapping contest, with each person trying to demonstrate that their situation or experience is worse than the other persons. These conversations are very damaging and can drag your vibration level down to rock bottom.

Change your listening habits
When listening to music what do you feel, sad, happy, uplifted or melancholy? Pay attention to the music that you listen to and if you find that your feelings are negative switch the music to something that will uplift you.

Embrace nature
Get outside for a few minutes a day, find a quiet spot and just stop and listen to nature. Take some deep breaths, try to empty your mind and look around and appreciate this universe that you are connected to. You will be surprised at how emptying your mind for just a few minutes a day will help you feel more positive and give you greater clarity when you return to your daily tasks.

Treat yourself
One of my friends often comments that I treat myself really well and it is true, I do because I know that I am worth it, that I deserve it and it makes me feel good. Do something nice for yourself, it could be something simple like a long hot bubble bath with candles and a glass of wine, going out to the movies or buying a new outfit, doing something just for yourself that you enjoy will definitely make you feel good and automatically raise your level of vibration.

Spend time alone
Quiet reflection, meditation, down time, what ever you wish to call it, being in solitude can help to rejuvenate you especially if you work in a busy or noisy environment, just being alone and quiet can lift your spirit tremendously.

Follow positive people
Take note of the people you spend time with, if you find that there are a number of negative people in your life and you realize that when you are with them, your vibration often lowers, you need to remove these people from your life. It may sound harsh but surrounding yourself with negative people is one of the most damaging things you can do to yourself. Being surrounded by negativity kills your spirit and your creative abilities thus making manifestation virtually impossible. Put your self in the company of positive people and you will immediately notice a lift in your vibration.

Eat well and exercise
A few years ago this one was not my list but as I have recently lost 30lbs and I am well on my way to loosing another 25lbs, I now understand the importance of eating life force energy food and moving my body. How does this make me happy? If you have ever been 50lbs or more over weight and you lost half of that weight by changing your thinking, eating well and exercising wouldn’t you feel good?

I have not even reached my perfect weight yet but I feel fantastic. Especially when I go into a clothes store like I did a couple of days ago and find that there are loads of clothes for me to choose from and I do not need to ask for the plus size rack. I tried on five dresses in three different stores recently because I was so shocked that I am actually a size 12 now that I needed to get that little extra proof before it would really sink in.
And The Moral of The Story Is…
Going out of your way to find things to do or experience that make you feel good is simply the best thing you can do for yourself and it is also the fastest way to experience the law of attraction in a positive way.

EFT and the Law of Attraction = A Red Bikini

I had an amazing experience with EFT (emotional freedom technique) recently which has left me reeling somewhat because I did not even know I had the need for this particular breakthrough. Let me explain. As you may or may not know the EFT Tapping World Summit has been going on for the last 10 days. I have been letting my tapping slip over the last few months so the summit came along at exactly the right time.

I had just intended to do this challenge and I knew that getting back into tapping would help me greatly. So I have been following along with the presenters that were speaking on topics that I am interesting in clearing.

Yesterday morning when I finished exercising I suddenly had this strong thought that I will never be slim because no one in my family is slim. I had just finished a really good work out and this thought popping up really threw me. I stopped in my tracks and thought about how the previous thought felt in my body. I wanted to know if that thought felt true or not. If found to my dismay that the thought felt very true indeed. I knew that I could not brush this thought off so I sat down to do some tapping. This is the set up phrase that I began with...

Even though I don’t believe I will ever be slim, I deeply and completely love and forgive and accept myself.

I said this about five or six times, usually you would only say the set up phrase three times but somehow I felt I needed to keep saying it. Then I went through the tapping points.

Eye brow point – I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Side of the eye - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Under the eye - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Under the nose - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Under the mouth - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Collar bone - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Under the arm - I don’t believe I will ever be slim
Top of the head - I don’t believe I will ever be slim

I did this for two rounds when another thought popped into my head and this one hit me even harder than the first. The thought was ‘I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them.’

This one was very painful to take and I immediately broke down in tears. I let them flow for a few moments, blew my nose and continued tapping as follows…

Karate chop point, four times – Even though I believe I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat, I deeply and completely love and forgive and accept myself

Eye brow point – I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Side of the eye - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Under the eye - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Under the nose - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Under the mouth - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Collar bone - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Under the arm - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them
Top of the head - I am just like the rest of my family and I will always be fat like them

I noticed I began to feel more and more agitated as I tapped and then another belief popped up. It went like this ‘I am a horrible person and I do not deserve anything good.’

Wow, that one really hurt and the tears came hard and fast. When I eventually calmed down I started tapping again.

Karate chop point, four times – Even though I believe I am a horrible person and I do not deserve anything good, I deeply and completely love and forgive and accept myself

Eye brow point – I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Side of the eye - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Under the eye - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Under the nose - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Under the mouth - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Collar bone - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Under the arm - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good
Top of the head - I am a horrible person and I don’t deserve anything good

I also did a few rounds on the following…
I don’t deserve anything good
I don’t deserve money
I don’t deserve to be in a loving relationship
I don’t deserve to be slim
I am a horrible person and horrible people do not deserve anything good

I had to stop a few more times as more tears came and I in all I think I did about five more rounds because I kept having just a little bit of the belief left. In EFT we gauge how deeply we feel the negative belief by rating it on a scale of 1-10. When I began with the original belief it was an 8. All of the stuff that came up whilst I was tapping were a definite 10. I got all of them down to a 2. But getting from 2 to 0 took some time.

The last little bit of resistance really held on tight. That was my indication that I had been holding this belief unconsciously for quite some time. I fully know the benefit of getting clear of negative limiting beliefs so I persevered with my tapping until I reached a 0.

I felt drained and happy at the same time and I knew that I had just released some very damaging beliefs. I took a nice long hot shower and then I sat down to write this post. I felt that it was important for me to share this experience not only for the benefit of you the reader but also for my benefit. The experience is now released from me and I am clear and open to receiving more.

I felt as though I had freed up some space for me to expand, it was like purging my system, now I have some space to fill up with wonderful, positive and joyous experiences. I did have one question about this whole experience and that was, how did I manage to loose 25lbs whilst holding all these negative beliefs? I thought about this for a while and I came to this conclusion.

During the course of my life I have reduced my weight significantly three times. But thinking about it now I realize that I have never reached my perfect weight, whenever I got close and people began to compliment me I would think I had done enough and stop my healthy way of living. So choosing to loose weight this time was easy and loosing 25lbs was easy because I had done it before.

However during the last couple of weeks I have found it difficult to get up and exercise, I have not been sleeping well and generally I have been feeling a little off balance. Not sick just not right somehow and I think it is because I am now out of my comfort zone. I have lost 33lbs now and that is something that I have never done before. I am getting closer and closer to my perfect weight and I think that my ego and subconscious mind were trying to protect me from failure. They were accustomed to me stopping at this point but when I continued they got scared, I was now treading on uncharted territory.

I needed to be saved from myself, so my mind started throwing up all of the negative limiting beliefs that I would usually use as a good excuse to stop and I was really feeling the conflict of wanting to achieve my goal and wanting to quit.

Now that I have cleared those beliefs I believe I will begin to sleep better and I will go back to feeling motivated in the mornings to get up, meditate exercise and create a fantastic day. This experience has just moved me much closer to a fabulous Red Bikini.

The Wrong Time to Use the Law of Attraction

If the law of attraction is working every minute of every day, whether we believe it or not and whether we like it or not, that means that there is never a right or a wrong time to engage the law of attraction intentionally. Right?

Wrong!

Here’s what I believe; the law of attraction is working at all times for all people but there is actually a right and a wrong time for setting intentions. Actually a right and a wrong time might not really be the best way to describe it. It is more like there is a right attitude and a wrong attitude for manifesting our desires.

Let me explain; lets say you get a huge phone bill and you have absolutely no way of paying it. So you sit there chewing your finger nails for a couple of hours and then you think to yourself OK I am going to attract the money that I need for my phone bill.

So you look at the phone bill and see that it is due in 10 days time and the amount is $400 dollars. Then you decide your intention is to attract $400 or more within the next 10 days. You release your request to the universe and you wait for the money to arrive.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Your energy is wrong; you set an intention to attract a specific amount of money within a specific amount of time; technically you are using the law of attraction the way it should be used. But the interesting thing about the law of attraction which a lot of people forget or do not even realize is that the universe does not respond to your words, it responds to your emotions.

Yes you got clear about what you wanted and you were specific with your intention. In other words your WORDS were correct but because of the situation under which you are seeking money your energy or your emotions are all wrong. If you did not have that huge bill you would not have deliberately set an intention to attract $400 dollars. Therefore you are not setting an intention because it would be really cool to manifest some money; you are setting an intention because you desperately need some money.

What do you think the universe is going to respond to; you’re well worded grammatically correct intention or the deep desperate cries of your emotions?

Just in case you do not know, the universe will always respond to your emotion!

Ok so what can we do in this situation? We still need the money, the bills not going anywhere and time is of the essence. I can tell you what I did when I faced the exact same situation I have described above. Well not exactly the same I actually needed $572 dollars within one week.

I did not set an intention for the money; I set about distracting myself from the bill, I did everything I could to not think about the bill. I was learning about Feng Shui at the time so I immersed myself in making my home more energetically correct and then I declared to the universe that I would pay the bill on or before the due date.

I was enjoying learning about Feng Shui and for most of the time I forgot about the bill. When ever I felt a little panic or doubt I would sit and write my affirmation over and over again until I felt calm and confident in the out come. A week passed and the due date passed but I did not panic I just kept doing what I was doing. Three days after the due date my dad stopped by for a visit and when he was leaving he handed me some money and told me to buy myself something. Just like that out of the blue and when he left I counted the money and it was $600 dollars.

I was a very happy camper that day! :)

The point is I did not try to manifest money when I was feeling so desperate about it. Instead I set about raising my vibration by jumping into an activity that I really enjoyed. Then when I was feeling stronger vibrationally I set an intention to pay my bill in full on time. Because my vibration was then high I set a much more positive, better feeling intention. Setting an intention to attract money would simply have added to my already low vibration because I would have been thinking only of not having money. By raising my vibration first I had more positive thoughts about the situation and I was able to come up with a much better way of looking at the situation.

I was no longer looking at it from the stand point of not having the money; I was looking at it from the stand point that I did not need the money because “I already had the money I was going to pay my bill on or before the due date.”

This invoked the feeling that the problem had already been solved instead of constantly remembering that there is a problem.
And The Moral of The Story Is…
If you need something desperately, take a step back from the situation for a day or so, make the effort to raise your vibration and then try looking at your situation from a different angle. If you have raised your vibration first I guarantee that you will come up with a better feeling solution that you never would have seen if your vibration was still low.
Learning the law of attraction certainly aint always easy but it is always interesting.

The Law of Attraction Does Not Bring You Want You Want

Whilst on my law of attraction journey you could say I have learnt a thing or two and one of the most interesting things I have learnt is that the law of attraction does not bring you what you want.

Now it may shock you to hear this considering all across the internet and all over the world people are talking about how they discovered the law of attraction, how it changed their lives and how they can attract absolutely anything they want.

They wax lyrical about how easy it is to use the law of attraction and how you can attract your hearts desires if you simply learn the creative process. As with all things that sound too good to be true those statements are in fact not true.

I truly hate to be the one to burst your bubble but someone had too. However when I eventually get to the point (and I do have one) you will see the truth and the logic of my words.

Have you ever struggled to make the law of attraction work for you? Have you done everything “they” said you need to do in order to do, be or have what ever you want? Have you bought every book, read every article and attended every workshop that you could find in order to discover the Missing Ingredient to the Law of Attraction?

Don’t feel bad; you are not alone!

I did it too and so did countless others; I guess you could say that we were in fact missing one vital piece of information. Actually that is not really true, we did not miss anything, we were misinformed to begin with. The law of attraction does not bring you what you want…

The law of Attraction Brings You What You Believe You Can Have!

I want you to take a moment and really thing about that statement. Read it over and over, chew on it a little and decide if those words feel true to you. Think about how long you have been struggling with the law of attraction. Think about how you manage to attract certain things but cannot attract other things. Why is that? Doesn’t it make sense that if you can attract A, then you should be able to attract B?

So why does B elude you? It’s because…

The Law of Attraction Does Not Bring You What You Want!
The law of Attraction Brings You What You Believe You Can Have
!


I would imagine that now you are thinking about the things that you have struggled to manifest you are beginning to see why you could not manifest those things. It is now dawning on you that somewhere deep down inside you did not fully believe that it was possible to manifest that particular thing.

The fact of the matter is if you can say that with every fiber of your being you BELIEVE that you can manifest a particular thing then you will manifest it…period!

OK so I bet your wondering how you know if you really believe you can create the life that you want. This is where our emotions come in, we live in a feeling universe and if you are not in touch with your feelings you are going to find it difficult to mold this energy that we create with. Now don’t panic; when I say you must be in touch with your feeling I do not mean that in a touch feely tree hugging sort of way (no offense to tree huggers) I simply mean that you must be able to recognize the emotions that you feel and where you feel them in your body.

For instance when you get mad at your boss how does your body feel? Do you get some tension in your shoulders? Does your stomach feel like someone is wringing it? And on the flip side when you are happy how do you know? Do you get a warm glow in the center of your being? Do you get a tingly feeling in your skin?

It is helpful to be able to recognize your emotions because they tell us when we are on the right track and when we are way off the track and heading for a collision with a brick wall.

When you want to manifest something one of the easiest ways that I know how is to feel as though you have the thing already. Let’s say you want to attract $1,500 in 1 week to pay some bills. Getting into the feeling of having it now is going to be difficult because every time you think about the $1,500 you think about the bills and you feel the need and the desperation and I can guarantee that you will never manifest that money.

If however you are able to think about how great it would be to manifest the money without the feeling of need, then you will attract the money. It is all about understanding and noticing our emotions. When you can feel the joy or the excitement or the fun of the thing that you want to attract and when you can maintain that positive emotion the law of attraction must bring you what you want.

If you absolutely cannot raise any positive emotions with regard to the thing that you want to manifest then it is most likely that you have limiting beliefs around that issue and your need to clear those before you can manifest what you want. I have to say that I am getting rather good at clearing limiting beliefs now and I have also created a tool that will help you to discover what your negative limiting beliefs are.

Wouldn’t that be cool!

And The Moral of The Story Is…
We cannot think our way to creating the life that we desire as thought is only a part of the equation. We must feel our way to attracting what we desire because the universe responds to our energy, our emotions not our words.

How to Use the Law of Attraction to Loose Weight

In the last edge of your seat episode of my law of attraction journey I started to tell you about how I used the law of attraction to loose 25lbs. Well I managed to get side tracked as I often do and ended up telling you about my love hate relationship with dieting over the years. But I owe you a dieting success story so that is what you are going to get today.

Before I get to that though I really must first tell you why my previous diets did not work or worked for a time and then the old habits slipped back in. There are two main reasons actually and I am going to discuss them both at length so if you have not already done so I would suggest that you go get a cuppa cause this is gonna be a long-un.

Weight Loss Sabotage-r # 1 - Compliments
This may seem a little strange to you but one of the easiest ways of killing a diet stone dead is a compliment. Let me show you a short conversation so you can see exactly what I mean and how this nasty little sabotage-r operates.

Bill – ‘hello Janice, long time no see.’
Janice – ‘hello Bill, wow it’s been ages, how are you doing?’
Bill – ‘I am great; it’s wonderful to see you. I see there is no need to ask how you are doing, you have lost weight and you look fabulous.’
Janice blushes – ‘oh thank you I been working out really hard.’
Bill – ‘well it has certainly paid off for you.’

Now that may seem like a totally innocent conversation and in theory it is, but as a former ‘Janice’ when I went through about 10 or 20 such conversations something started happening inside of my head.

The ego started taking over and I began to get big headed. I was walking around telling myself that I was the hottest thing in a French cut panty that ever lived. Obviously having a healthy opinion of oneself is a great thing, but being big headed is something totally different.

Here’s what becoming arrogant whilst loosing weight does for you. NOTHING! Actually that’s not strictly true it does do one major thing for you, it helps you put all the weight back on. Because of all the compliments I would start to feel like there was no need to keep dieting. Well meaning people would say, ‘oh you look wonderful surely you do not need to diet anymore.’

And of course those words would slowly seep into my consciousness and before I knew it I would no longer be watching what I ate and within the wink of an eye I would be 40lbs heavier, AGAIN!

Weight Loss Sabotage-r # 2 - Low Self Esteem
This is by far the more dangerous of the two. I truly believe that it is impossible to loose weight when you have low self esteem. Doing something good for yourself when you do not feel that you deserve anything good is not at all possible.

I have lived with low self esteem most of my life without knowing it, fortunately for me when I reached my 39th year I discovered that I had low self esteem and I was able to start taking positive action to turn that around.

Now I understand what went wrong with all of the diets that I had been on. OK one of those diets was just plain wrong, but the others were good healthy plans and I lost weight. But due to the fact that I was then hit by the double whammy of an ego gone wild due to low self esteem I would stop dieting and gradually revert to my old way of living.

Another thing that also hindered my progress was I did not know what I really wanted, oh I knew I wanted to loose weight, but know from the law of attraction we know that we must be specific about our desires. We must know them, own them and feel them to the very depths of our being. Just having a vague notion about what we want is not enough to manifest our desires.
Getting back to how I lost 25lbs in 2 ½ months!

I worked on my self esteem, (I will tell you more about how I did that in another post) I did some research and decided what would be a healthy weight for my 5ft 6 height and small frame. According to SparkPeople.com I should be 156lbs. so I set an intention that that is what I was going to achieve.

The next thing I did was start making some changes to my diet…
I cut out almost all processed food. (I still ate tinned Sardines)
I stopped eating white flour
I stopped eating white sugar
I stopped eating dairy products

I started food combining
I started eating two pieces of fruit each day
I tripled the amount of vegetables I was eating per day
I started eating at least 1 large salad a day
I started drinking 110 ounces of water per day (roughly 3 litres)
I started cooking fresh food every day instead of opening a can or eating fast food.

I started using affirmations daily
I started doing EFT daily
I started writing a gratitude list daily
I started a blog to document my journey (Positive Thinking Life)

And that is how I lost 25lbs in 2 ½ months!

It may sound like a lot of pretty drastic changes but believe me I would not have succeeded in loosing the weight and I would not still be loosing weight if I had not taken the time to work on my self esteem first. I simply would not have begun the journey if I was still feeling badly about myself.

At the time of writing this post my I weigh a mere 184.5lbs and I have a mere 24lbs to go before operation Red Bikini is a total success. In case you are wondering what operation red bikini is all about go over to my other blog (the link above) and read about it there.

And the Moral of The Story Is…
If you have lived with a recurring problem for many years and have tried to overcome it without success, then there are negative limiting beliefs at play in you subconscious mind. Your work should then be clearing those beliefs; and as soon as you do you will start to achieve the success that you want.

If you know what the beliefs are, try using some of the methods I used above, if you do not, start doing Ho’oponopono, this is an amazing clearing technique popularized by Dr Joe Vitale, just do a search and you will come up with loads of information.
